CEA representatives – including CEO Glenn Pomeroy and Chief Mitigation Officer Janiele Maffei – were on hand at San Francisco’s City Hall on Jan. 20 to open registration for the 2016 Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) program in 18 California cities. The registration runs through Feb. 20.
From those who register, 1,600 homeowners will be drawn to receive up to $3,000 in funding to earthquake retrofit their homes.
The EBB program aims to help protect older California homes from potential earthquake damage by retrofitting. The CEA estimates that about 1.2 million homes could benefit from the program in high-hazard areas. The program is especially aimed at homes that may not be bolted to their foundations, and which have crawl spaces that make them more susceptible damage.
