General Counsel
Suman Tatapudy is the California Earthquake Authority’s General Counsel. She has served in that role since October 2023.
Suman first joined the CEA in September 2019 as an attorney in the Legal and Compliance Department, where she focused on providing general legal services to the Authority, including focusing specifically on legal issues related to the newly established Wildfire Fund. CEA is the appointed Administrator of the Wildfire Fund.
Prior to joining CEA, Suman was an associate for five years at Orrick, Herrington, & Sutcliffe LLP, in the firm’s Public Policy Practice Group. Suman developed and implemented legislative and regulatory strategies for clients in a wide range of industries, principally focused on insurance, technology, and telecommunications. Before joining Orrick, Suman was a Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellow for California State Assembly Member Kevin Mullin.
Suman received her J.D. from Michigan Law School in 2013, and her B.A. in Political Science, and minor in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley in 2010. Suman was admitted to the California State Bar in 2013.
