CEA celebrated its 20th anniversary on Dec. 2 with a slideshow, two cakes and a Mannequin Challenge.
Staffers were treated to a slideshow that featured a look back at the very first office at 300 Capitol Mall, important early legislation, informational coloring books, and past ShakeOut events for "Drop, Cover and Hold on" demonstrations.
The Mannequin Challenge was an opportunity for people to express themselves in a unique way. Participants lined the halls, offices and boardroom in various frozen positions as the camera roamed and captured the moment in time. Music was incorporated, and the final product was posted on CEA's YouTube channel. News media, including Insurance Journal, also covered CEA turning 20.
To commemorate helping Californians get financially protected for more than 20 years, CEA produced a 20th anniversary report, which includes financial information, a timeline, a history of policy upgrades and an earthquake map. This report was distributed at CEA's Dec. 14 governing board meeting and was mailed to stakeholders and partners. CEA also received a letter of commendation from Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr., recognizing CEA's promotion of long-term community resilience through risk education, loss mitigation and insurance protection.
