Agent-Training Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for my CE credits to post?
On average it takes 2-3 weeks for the California Department of Insurance (CDI) to post your continuing education (CE) credits, but it can take up to 6 weeks.

How many CE credits do I need to renew my license?
The CDI determines how many CE credits an agent needs to renew their license. Click here to view the CDI Web site.

How many times can I take the course?
You can take the in-person agent-training seminar or the online agent-training course as many times as you like; however, you only can receive the CE credits once every two years.

Do I have to be a licensed agent to take the agent-training seminar?
You do not have to be a licensed agent to attend the agent training seminar, but we can only offer CE credits to agents with a valid Property and Casualty license. We encourage all office staff to attend.

What does the course entail?
During the first part of the seminar you will learn about the history of earthquake insurance and the CEA. The majority of the seminar, however, focuses on the CEA homeowners contract (BEQ-3) coverages and exclusions.

What happens if I arrive late?
If you arrive after the start of class you are welcome to stay for the remainder of the class, but we may not be able to offer you the CE credits. Please discuss this with your instructor after the class has concluded. You should arrive about 20-30 minutes before the start of class to fill out the registration paperwork required by the CDI.
